Soul Land Reloaded Mobile Game Review

Soul Land Reloaded Review

As you might already known from my previous Soul Land Awaken Warsoul Review, it is one of my favorite light novels and manga out of the hundreds I currently read.

Now, this is the 4th Soul Land game that has hit NA officially, and going to be honest, they were all fun for a day or two but quickly becomes very boring and lackluster. Unlike it’s previous predecessor, Soul Land: Awaken Warsoul is still up and available for anyone to play.

This game just recently released back on the 21 September 2021. It was not very well marketed nor hyped that I didn’t even know of it. I only found out when I was doing my daily grind on Monster Super League and an advertisement on it popped up. I was super curious, I pressed installed right away and started to play away, hoping this could be the next new mobile game I will play.

Combat

Compared to previous Soul Land games, the combat has improved leaps and bounds. It’s no way perfect, and I can see it attempting to be complex with player position mechanics. It is actually very enjoyable for awhile. However, the combat quickly becomes non-existent and turns into a auto-play fest once again for several reasons.

  1. Auto-play feature includes player position mechanics placement
  2. Game gives away so much freebies from codes
  3. Access to “Sweep” which instantly clears a dungeon

You may think, isn’t it a good thing for the publisher to actively give out freebie, well the answer is no. My Battle Power in game exploded to a point, the game was actively asking me to “skip” content as I was much too strong for it. Meaning, I essentially skipped majority of the storyline due to being too strong on my first day of playing. This may be a added bonus for some players but I’m definitely not one of those sadly.

Further, PVP is either completely auto play or “Skipped”. You have zero control over it, making it even less enjoyable.

Cash Shop

This game had a VIP feature, which you could grind your way up, benefiting from all the VIP benefits without every spending a dime. It’s pretty much more or less the same as any other VIP system in it’s previous games and other Mobile Games. It’s annoying, it’s completely pay2win and it’s completely breaks the game in terms of differentiating between an free2play player and a player who spends money.

There is constant events and popups that will show you discounted prices if you charge money to gain an complete unfair advantage in game. This is one of the biggest drawbacks to these type of games, it will lead to it’s downfall real quick when players realize it’s just impossible to keep up or end up spending too much money to stay ontop.

State of Game

The game ran pretty smoothly, there was some stuttering and input lag every now and then, but that could also be due to playing on an emulator instead of an actual mobile device. The game is new, in the first week of playing, I already already ranked top 200 in terms of “Battle Power”. While between first and myself is a difference of millions. The gap is too huge, it’s also noted in the rankings that the top players have spent money on the game.

Artwork

The artwork in this game was beautiful, I love it, it is a mixture of chibi manga drawings and the Chinese CGI animation TV series. Although I don’t agree with all the character designs, like my favorite character Gu Rong, or better known as Bone Douluo. I don’t enjoy them spoiling that his spirit is a Bone Dragon. That has been concealed in the Manga and Light Novel until much later towards the end. While manga readers are not even close to that point yet and still guessing what his spirit as we see Bone only ever uses spatial techniques and nothing relating to “bone” or even a “dragon”. There was absolutely no need to spoil his real guard form for us at all. Further my other character I liked was Dugu Bo or known as the Poison Douluo, his rear guard form looked like a hydra in game which he never once used in the novel or manga. It’s these differences that makes or breaks it for players like me who are so heavily invested in the Lore and story.

Fun

Lastly, was Soul Land Reloaded fun, I wanted to make it work, I loved this series but unfortunately, due everything they have done just points towards trying to milk the fans at this point. The game was not just super Pay 2 Win, you hit roadblocks constantly throughout your adventure, and asking you to pay to contiune playing or wait for the timer. It is just not fun at all.
