Genshin, Genshin, Genshin Impact.
We’re not just talking about just another ARPG game in this genre. We’re talking about the feeling, and the stories you’ll share with your gaming buddies. Genshin Impact is one of the most played, most favorited game, it comes along with amazing, beautiful graphics. This title dropped in 2020 and has already achieved an cult-like community base. One of it’s biggest advantages is it’s vast land to explore along, cooking system with drop dead gorgeous anime-style graphics, paired with a Waifu/Husbando collector gacha system; and you wonder why you have everyone at your finger tips. This is just a small sample of why Genshin Impact is worth playing in 2021.
Genshin Impact was one of the biggest MMO releases we seen in the past decade. In a year where majority of the world was under a strict lockdown, we had big game titles being published such as Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and World of Warcraft latest expansion Shadowlands, and CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077. Even New World which was supposed to be released in mid 2020 was completely delayed and it’s February 2021 and still no further news. Genshin Impact came out swinging, it generated 60 million in the first week and close to $400 million in the first two months.
While Genshin Impact revenue continues to show a decline compared to its first few months, the title still ranked as a top-grossing mobile game globally. The title has already made its mark on 2020, ranking as the No. 29 top grossing mobile game globally so far this year while only being released in late Q4. That’s completely impressive.
Another interesting fact is, this game is cross platform between Mobile and PC. Your account can be linked up and sync between the two platforms meaning you can actually play Genshin no matter where you go.
How cool is that? Could be potentially addicting and dangerous but, that’s also up to us, as players to control.
So that’s the hype, but is the game really worth it?
The combat is pretty smooth, it’s no where near Black Desert’s combat, but for an anime style MMO, this is one of the smoother ones out there. The combat is action combat with soft-lock targeting system. Although I personally prefer tab targeting games such as World of Warcraft or Asta Online, the combat is still surprisingly fun and entertaining. Genshin Impact combat isn’t just another hack and slash action combat, it has a very unique yet complex Elemental Combos system. Easy to understand yet hard to master making the game alot more enjoyable than just another mob to mob grind.
I have not gone into great lengths to reach the “End Game”, as I am taking my time, however, from what my partner and friends say, it is very P2W. You have to pay if you want the best of the best. That’s pretty discouraging, however, to finish the game, a Free To Play player will find it a little tough but totally do-able without questions.
The cash shop is just like most games out there, as you have to remember, Genshin is part Mobile, thus you will see the same style of offers mobile games offer. Very P2W style marketing. Which is more than likely the reason why they grossed so highly in 2020 despite being released in Q4. If you want full 4 and 5 ★ characters, get ready to throw you wallet at this game, relying on RNGesus will only due get you so far as a free to play player.
The artwork in this game is just amazing, the graphics even at medium and low are still stunning. Completely anime style, gameplay. Perfect for any weebs and anime enthusiasts. This isn’t those chibi anime game, this is a full fledged anime-style MMO.
While my main reason is to play games for PVP, lots of PVP and guess what’s the one thing Genshin Impact is missing? That’s right PVP, so for me, I cannot rate it at 5★ for fun. However, cruising the storyline, it does provide countless hours of fun nevertheless. So for a PVE/Story-driven player, you will love this game. As for PVPers, this might not be the title for you.
Why You Should play Genshin Impact
Was the reasons above not enough? Then, let me tell you 5 reasons why you should be playing Genshin Impact in 2021.
Free Breath Of The Wild
Zelda’s Breath of the Wild is one of the greatest games ever made. It was a game that had the potential to do anything and everything, but in the end it accomplished most of what fans dreamed it would. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is simply a masterpiece, having been rated as one of the greatest video games ever made by many critics and fans alike, but it had a downside, it is only available on Nintendo, namely Switch and Wii U. What if I told you, Genshin Impact is on par with Breath Of the Wild in terms of combat, gameplay and a rich open-world, action-adventure, action combat game. Even better, Genshin Impact is it’s own title, a completely original game, not being based off another franchise or game and it is a complete Free To Play Title. While having full support from miHoYo in releasing updates every few months, we are talking about big updates. Genshin Impact 1.5 was released on April 28, 2021 while 1.6 is expected to happen on June 9, 2021. This brings to my next point…
Never-ending contents, Events & Updates
There is always something to do in Genshin Impact. Whether you are challenging the latest content, they will also have a unique (not recycled) event going on. Or you can just go ahead and explore the massive breath-taking land. Or if you are Adventure rank 16 and above, you can activate Co-Op mode and take on domains and monsters, find treasure, or simply just enjoy the world of Teyvat with a group of friends, or find new friends.
With Genshin 1.6 patch just around the corner, it brings in new features such as Character Skins & Outfits & Skiff Waypoint. It also includes new area and housing system updates. Still not convinced yet on Genshin Impact? Let’s go to Reason #3
Waifus of the Wild
If #1 wasn’t convincing enough, and #2 was too weak for you, let’s talk about #3, yes Waifus & Husbandos. In Genshin Impact, you have a vast range of different characters to collect. Similar to traditional JRPGs, Genshin Impact allows you to shift between 4 characters you have collected in the open and create multiple teams. While it’s predominately Waifus, but Husbandos exist in game too! In fact, you get this annoying but cute midget named Paimon that serves as your personal guide throughout the game.
Some players don’t like her, while others do. Tell me your thoughts on Paimon.

Unique Combat System
Genshin Impact has a unique Elemental Combat System – Each character has a base element which they can perform a variety of different skills incorporating that element to attack enemies.
The elements in game are Pyro (fire), Geo (earth), Dendro (nature), Cryo (ice), Electro (lightning), Anemo (wind), and Hydro (water)
Unlike most mobile games, where it’s just element strength vs weakness, Genshin Impact takes it a step further.
Element not just have it’s strengths and weaknesses, it also has elemental reactions and elemental resonance making it a very complex system.
Don’t have a PC? No problem, you can play on your same account on your mobile devices without any feature limitations, yes a Mobile Game without any drawbacks.
Do you take an hour public transport each day to and from work with nothing better to do? Well, I am sure you have an smart phone right, then you are capable of playing Genshin during that time.
Genshin Impact isn’t just available to play with either Mobile and PC, you can play online co-op between mobile and PC players as well.
In the near future, they are looking to cross-play console players with PC & Mobile making it a true complete cross-play game.
Don’t think, just give it a try. If you don’t like it, well, that’s too bad. However, Fayiette will tell you now, Genshin Impact is worth playing in 2021. Don’t worry about the other upcoming titles, you will watch them come and pass, Genshin impact is here to stay. miHoYo has plans to continue releasing even more content throughout the remainder of 2021.
