Player versus Player Guide
In Swords of Legends Online, Player versus Player comes in many different forms, shapes and sizes.
Currently, the known forms of PVP are the following with when they were released
- 1v1 Duels (Alpha)
- Open World PVP (CBT1)
- 3v3 Arena (Alpha)
- 5v5 Arena (Alpha)
- Faction PVP (CBT2)
- Guild Versus Guild (Planned Future Release)
- Battlefields (Planned Future Release)
Currently, we have confirmation from @Raederle a Community Manager that for launch, they will be no Open World PVP, however, later on, we may have Faction PVP content. As for the Outlaw/Karma Open World PVP system in China, it is still up in the air whether that will materialize or not.
Instead, we have confirmation from GameForge, that they will indeed be Open World PVP under the following names – Rampage. While we are not certain if Bloodthirsty mode will still be playable yet.
At launch, there will be dueling (traditional 1v1 anywhere in the world), 3v3, and 5v5 arenas.
In later content updates, there will be more arenas (10v10, 20v20, 40v40, PvPvE, etc) / PvP only maps / GvG map / faction warfare.
PvP Gear
PvP gear is disabled when you are attempting to use the LFG matchmaking tool for Dungeons and Raids.
However, you are able to use PVE gears for PVP.
PvP gear can be only be obtained from doing PvP, PVP related currencies and PVP related events.
In addition, PvP gear can be sold on the Auction House.
PvP gear is seasonal so expect to grind every season.
When enhancing your PvP gear up and season ends, your gear resets to base enhancement level. Therefore, you have to grind again.
Enhancement materials are gained through PVP means and it has 100% success chance.
Arena (3v3 & 5v5)
A very standard mode for any MMORPG that has PVP elements where two teams are fighting to the last man standing.
Like most traditional Arena Modes, once you are killed, you are unable to respawn until everyone dies, which the last team standing wins with a timer limit of 15 minutes.
Winning arena matches will give you a PVP currency named Starlight Seals (this name can change) which can be exchanged for PvP gear.
While losing will get you a big fat nothing.
Additionally, for 3v3, you cannot queue as the role Tank, but as an overall rule in arena premade groups, you cannot have more than one of the same class and only one class is allowed to be a healer.
Why no same class in pre-mades, not a single clue, I am currently asking for confirmation on this & why we are being so restricted on premade group composition.
Rewards
- Duel Seal
- Combat Spirit
- Amulet Coin: Earth
Duel Seals are PVP Currency for PVP gear. There is a unknown limitation on a certain number of Duel Seals you can receive per week. Duel Seals are character bound not account bound.
Bounty System (Potential Future Content)
The bounty system needs to be unlocked by completing a quest in Cloudrise (This name can change).
Once you have the system unlocked, you are able to place bounties on players in your Nemesis list.
Nemesis list consist of players who have PKed you before.
While any player are able to accept this and claim the bounty.
Players flagged for bounty will be marked by a Shade.
Should the player have a bounty on their head, they get a debuff which temporarily reduces their stats.
Bloodthirst System (Potential Future Content)
Like Black Desert Online, you can turn on PVP (Flagging) and kill specific players of your choice.
Killing a player decreases your Good Qi (Karma).
The only drawback to this system is, you cannot flag everyone, you can only flag players that have been added to the Bloodthirst list.
This means, you may need to prepare a little bit and not just, “I don’t like you, die” like we seen a lot in BDO.
However, if you do want to kill everyone.. there is the… Rampage System
Rampage System
Unlike Bloodthirst mode, Rampage System allows you to kill anyone without any restrictions.
However, similar to the Bloodthirst system, killing players will decrease your Good Qi (Karma) and once you have Evil Qi (negative karma), you will be unable to enter Cloudrise & NPCs will attack you.
In this mode, you will flag yourself as “you want to be hostile to everyone”
It cost Chi to keep this mode active. Once you reach Negative Chi, you will be sent to prison if you die by players or NPCs.
You cannot attack other players who are not max level. You will learn this skill automatically at max level.
Means once you are max level, you may become a victim to PVP from other players using this mode.
If you kill a player using this mode, you will receive some penalties
We are monitoring griefers and we believe this system will work as there are very harsh punishments in place for PKers
Rampage mode does not give any rewards for PVP, it’s a mode purely exist to kill someone who you want to see die.
Note: Housing zone is a safe zone. You cannot be attacked by users in Rampage Mode
Realm of Destiny (Jail System)
When you have Evil Qi and you died to a Guard or NPC, you will be teleported to a Jail where you will do repeatable quests to reduce your time/increase your karma. Just like Archeage’s Jail System, you are able to escape jail, however, escaping will give you a debuff that will do DOT (Damage over time) which if you die from the DOT, you will return back to jail.
Large Scale PvP Content
Faction PvP (Future Content)
They are three factions, Red, Blue, and Neutral.

Summary
While the unknown Battlegrounds & missing Open World is quite a heavy blow for any serious PVPer.
With the official list of Battlegrounds & Open world PvP available. The only downside is that as always with time-gated content, not every player will be able to play it.
Times are listed in Server time which is EDT Timezone.
However, one good new is that there is PVP Based Gear and PVE based gear.
With PVE gear doing considerately less damage in PVP and vice versa.
This is a dream that all PVPer want, something a few games tried and majority failed in successfully implanting. Let’s hope GameForge get this right for us PVP nerds.
