What is New World
Amazon is the developer and publisher of New World. New World had an original release date in May 2020 but was delayed until August 25th 2020, then it was delayed again to August 2021 due to COVID and various other in-game issues. This new PVP Driven MMORPG is set in the mid-1600s, players are able to explore and settle down on Aeternum Island and join one of the three factions (Marauders, Syndicate, or Covenant). The game is an sandbox where players are encouraged to gain resources through various means ,whether its plundering, node utilization or through settlements. Like all MMORPGs, New World does have an in-depth storyline along with quests for any loremaster to enjoy and immerse in, otherwise, the players are able to join either or both PVE and PVP content.
New World Closed Beta just closed on 2 August 201 and the community is already eager for it’s launch date. Earlier today, we were notified that they are once again delaying New World’s launch date due to the feedbacks received during the Beta.

Why Was It Delayed Again
Amazon Game Studios feels that the game can be even more published before the official launch, the publisher, in the recent years, publishers such as Blizzard and Gameforge rush to rush to push out the latest game, just take a look at Blizzard’s Warcraft 3 Reforged complete failure, or as PCGamer describes Swords of Legends as A Chinese MMO with a surprisingly robust endgame buried beneath bad localization and performance issue.
While it is never easy for the community, especially since this project has been delayed for over a year in total, we certainly believe that due to Amazon Game Studio’s massive funding, it could potentially be worth it in the long run. Stay stray, a month delay isn’t that far away. Chances are, they will give us another small Beta run.
After all, as all of us MMORPG lovers out there, we rather a quality game that we are able to fully immerse in than just another cash grab that will die off within a few month time.
Amazon Game Studio Release History
Truthfully, Amazon Game Studio has a really bad history.
- 2018 – Fantasy Brawler Breakaway was announced in 2016 but cancelled in 2018 due to “focus on new ideas”
- 2019 – Battle Royale’s Intensity and unknown project Nova was both cancelled without further clarification besides Mike Frazzini, lead executive not understanding the gaming industry
- 2020 – Hero Shooter Crucible went from Launch to Closed beta to being cancelled within the span of a few months back in 2020, it never reached launch.
- 2021 – The Lord of The Rings MMO was cancelled due to a dispute with Tencent.
