KRAFTON is the developer while Kakao Games will be the publisher of Elyon Online. From the creators of TERA online, Kakao bring the west audience a brand new MMORPG. Unfortunately, it is still using the Unreal Engine 3 as opposed to the newer Unreal Engine 4. This is actually quite a shame due to the fact that Unreal Engine 5 is already in works, we should honestly be seeing games released in Unreal Engine 4 or equivalent this decade. As we know, there are lots of performance issues associated with Unreal Engine 3 along with graphics and textures looking quite bland, stock and plasticly.
However, so far of what Elyon has showcased, it has a real potential to be a great MMORPG.
Elyon Closed Beta Information
Some people may know, Closed Beta Applications starts today and ending April 25th 2020.
With their first official closed Beta Test between May 6 and May 10.
However, I am very disappointed so far as per say with their website having trouble with the mass people attempting to sign up.
It took me nearly 1 hour just to log in, and another 20 minutes to successfully apply.
Lots of 404 errors everywhere and infinite loops.
While this is still the website, chances are, they are hosted with the place which may cause issues with unpredicted player base numbers during the opening days.
So far, we are told, test servers for EU is located in Netherlands while NA is located in California
Lastly, Elyon is been brought to the west by Kakao Games, most will heard of them as they were the main Publisher of Black Desert Online until the BDO devs, Pearl Abyss decided to go self-publish.
We all know the promises Kakao games have given us over the years, some fulfilled and even more as broken promises. A promise of no P2W before BDO even launched slowly turned into a P2W fest over the years. With the Trade Pack debate during the first year, to costume P2W pricing, before the infamous VALK debate and among other issues.
Will see see something similar with Elyon games, or will Kakao games be more transparent this time around.
They know players will stick as long the MMORPG is enjoyable and has end-game content to do, so wouldn’t it be better to just be honest with us instead.
Either way, I am excited for a brand new MMORPG, as I been scavenging for past ones I played recently, hopping between SWTOR, MapleStory, to Tera back to BDO and list goes on.
