New World
New World is an sandbox MMORPG developed and published by Amazon Game Studio with a release date of 31 August 2021. You, the players are stuck on the mysterious but curse island of Aeternum that is full of magic. Whether you are fighting your old crewmates or new island castaways, do you have what it takes to master the weapon that fits you. Do you know each weapon in New World is completely unique? Do you have what it takes to survive through any means in this 17th century alternative supernatural fiction version of North America and gain immortality through Azoth?
How to Level Up Fast In New World
Leveling in New World isn’t rocket science, it is actually very straight forward. There are 5 main methods in my preferred order I will outline here.
- Main Story Quest
- Town Missions & Side Quest
- Faction Missions
- Life Skilling
- Mob Grinding
Main Story Quest
This comes to as no surprise for any MMORPG player, each MMORPG will have sets of main story quests, while most don’t really matter and is just there to unlock certain features and tell you about it’s lore, New World is similar in that regards. You would need to complete the certain main story quest to unlock features or items such as the Azoth Staff. Further, if you mix doing the main story quest and some town missions/mob grinding, you should not receive any bottle neck levels, which means you are able to enjoy from one quest to the next. You are able to find your main story quests with your in game Journal (Default Hotkey J).
Town Missions & Side Quest
What is a MMORPG without some side quests, so we all should know what they are, they are quests that doesn’t really mean anything but there are there for some exp or gear or materials. While Town Missions is a concept where you accept tasks and complete them within a time limit for the rewards posted and they refresh few hours. In order words, they are just another name for a fancy side quest that are just centralized in one location NPC (Town Board).
Faction Missions
Faction Missions are essentially the same as the Town Missions except for the fact that you need to be flagged for PVP and they are for your respective factions you have chosen. These quests tend to be on higher difficulty scale and PVP related death will instantly result in the mission failing. You are able to accept these quest from your respective faction NPC in any town. While they do give exp points for completion, these quests are much more beneficial to increase your reputation within your respective factions and allows you to exchange for faction based weapons, armor, and other items.
Life Skilling
Gathering in New World will yield you some sweet exp points, while it isn’t an high amount. It is more of a relaxing option to break between the different types of NPC to NPC quest grinding. While they do not contribute highly towards your overall exp level, they do however contribute greatly to your life skill levels. New World is a very focused on crafting and life skills as it is an Sandbox MMORPG after all. Which means if you don’t gather things yourself, you might be finding yourself often at the Action house to purchase your items or materials.
Life skilling can also indirectly impact your ability to grind and do quests, an example would be leveling up your fishing and cooking life skill can provide food which can be either potions or buffs. This can directly also save you money from purchasing the materials or items directly.
Mob Grinding
Monsters in New World will give EXP, in New World, instead of receiving a static amount of experience points per Monster, you received it proportional to your level.

EXP Gain Limitations
Unlike most games, there are some special limitations placed in New World.
The most common one is When you die to enemies that are 10 levels above yours, you will bypass Death’s Door upon death. Your allies will not be able to revive you and you will be immediately return to the Respawn screen.
Experience is capped after 10 levels above the player. This means even if you manage to kill monsters that are above the 10 level difference, you will only receive the experience points amounting to a monster that is 10 levels above you.
Is Monster Grind Effective Way to Level
No, not by any means should it be the preferred method to level in Amazon’s New World. While group mob grinding using AOE skills can provide a quick way to level up along the way of main questing or missions but New World is not like Black Desert Online where the main focus of PVE is monster grind.
What Monster Level Should I Grind At
The best and most optimal level to grind at would be monsters between 9 levels lower and 2 levels higher than you. This range will provide the most effective grind and balance in terms of DPS output, kill rate and difficulty rate.
