New World is an sandbox MMORPG developed and published by Amazon Game Studio with a release date of 28 September 2021. You are stuck on an mysterious but curse island of Aeternum that is full of magic. While trying this magical island, at times, you need rest in between major city travels, are you capable of building your own camp to rest and craft basic supplies? Knowing how to use the camp system is an essential skill during your quest to gain immortality through Azoth.
Camp System
In Amazon’s New World, you are able to build a camp when you are not in town using the default hotkey Y. The camp may not seem to be a big deal but it is incredibly useful as it can serve as a respawn point, you can simply rest at a camp to quickly regenerate Health or craft basic supplies before handing off into battle.
Camp System Requisites
In order to use the camp system, you must have completed the beginner quests on the beach. These beginner quests also serves are tutorial which makes it very ideal to just finish them as it doesn’t take long either. After the tutorial quest when you are washed up on the beach, you will be eventually receive a quest from the survivalist in your applicable starter town. The survivalist will ask you to gather materials to place down your very first tent, once you have completed this questline, you will be able to place down your camp in the wild as long as you have the materials.
Each time you want to place down a camp, you would need the following materials to craft the tent
- 5 Wood
- 1 Flint
Once you have the materials and placed down the tent, you would need to approach the camp and build it. You are able to build the tent by using the default hotkey E.
Camp System Tiers
There are 5 different tiers to the camp system, Once you reach the appropriate level you will need to do the a quest to unlock the next camp tier.

Limitations
You are able to use someone else’s tent however, not all items are able to be crafted if you are not using your own such as the corruption tinctures or beast, ancient, wraith, corrupted, and angry earth weapon coatings.
Further, you are not able to craft tools or swords higher than tier 1 at the camp, regardless of the camp tier level.
Camp System During PVP
When you are respawning during flagged PVP the following restrictions or limitations are in place
- Each respawn at your campsite will activate an incrementally-increasing respawn cooldown
- For each subsequent camp respawn, the cooldown will continue to increase indefinitely
- The cooldown does not reset but continues to countdown even if you choose to respawn elsewhere
- Death does not reset the cooldown, instead the additional amount will be added to the pending cooldown amount
